Head of Exploration

Mr. Kamran Aziz has been serving as the Head of Exploration (HoE) at Pakistan International Oil Limited (PIOL) since 1 October 2021. He is responsible for leading all Exploration Geoscience and G&G activities for Offshore Block-5.

A highly experienced Geoscientist and Explorationist with nearly 27 years of hands-on professional experience, Mr. Aziz has held various technical and senior management positions in leading multinational oil and gas companies. His expertise encompasses sequence stratigraphy and regional geology across Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, and the UAE. Throughout his career, he has worked on almost all major sedimentary basins of Pakistan, including offshore domains.

In addition to his technical acumen, Mr. Aziz has a strong grasp of governance processes, E&P standards, and HSSE procedures and policies. His experience also extends to understanding legal, commercial, and fiscal frameworks across different jurisdictions and their implications on technical and economic models.

Mr. Aziz holds BSc (Honors) and MSc degrees in Geology from the University of Karachi, and an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom.
